The wand provides several indications it is correctly operating:
Yes. We had an independent laboratory here in the USA test the wand’s ability to disinfect and you can see that report here.
UVC light attacks bacteria and viruses at the molecular level by destroying the DNA and RNA of the microbe—preventing it from being able to reproduce or infect you (1). The EPA has deemed it a safe and effective way to disinfect. Research shows that organisms like viruses and bacteria react to UVC wavelengths with the most reactive wavelength at 260nm (2) which is used by the Germinator.
For years, UVC has been used worldwide for multiple forms of disinfection. In the current pandemic of coronavirus / COVID-19, UVC is being used yet again to disinfect.
The user friendly, lightweight, and portable wand is perfect for home, office or on the go. Use the included bag to stow the wand, charging cable and UV protective glasses in a purse, backpack, briefcase, diaper bag or carry on. When folded, the UVC LED modules are safely protected from damage.
Always use the wand as directed. Follow the instructions in our user manual here.

No. The UVC light emitted by the Germinator will not damage, change, or alter the surfaces you are disinfecting. However, it cannot be used on skin or eyes because harm can occur.
The safety glasses included with the Germinator are made of a poly carbonate resin that naturally blocks UVC light including the type used by the Germinator. UVC light can damage eyes which is why we include the safety goggles.
Purple light is part of the visible light spectrum and is safe for eyes. UVC light is not visible to the human eye and is not safe for eyes. The Germinator uses both purple light and UVC so you can see where the wand is aiming and can tell it is on. When wearing the safety glasses you can still see all visible light, such as purple, while blocking the UVC light.
